STEPHEN HELLER was a prolific composer of piano music in the Romantic Era. His compositions are largely forgotten today, which is unfortunate, as they are melodically inventive, varied, expressive. and a joy to play. Heller spent much of his long and productive life teaching piano, and many of his enduring pieces are the ones he composed for his students. The thirty progressive etudes of Opus 46 are a challenge for young pianists. I enjoyed recording them all, and I've included a few of my favorites here.
If you or your students would enjoy hearing the full collection of Heller Etudes from Op. 46, please contact me about purchasing the recording. Also check out my recording of the Heller Preludes Op. 81.
