PRINCESS PHOOEY
Book and Lyrics by Lisa Diana Shapiro Music by Eric Rockwell “Wonderfully witty… Eric Rockwell's score includes memorable numbers like ‘Morning Breath’ (addressing the unpleasant realities that a century of sleep produces) and ‘Dancing the Castle Clean,’ with burlesque and tango overtones.”

PRINCESS PHOOEY is a musical fairy tale like no other; an entertaining journey with a rebellious princess, a collection of hilarious chambermaids, and of course, a handsome prince. This show examines the issues of individualism and non-conformity. What would happen if a princess didn't want to behave like a princess? What if she wanted to be the hero, rather than be saved by one? What would happen to a princess who didn't care about etiquette and decorum and gowns and make-up? Will the inhabitants of this fairy tale accept a princess who’d rather climb trees than make royal decrees? Princess Phooey opened at the TADA! Theatre in New York City in the spring of 2008. It featured a large and talented cast of young performers. Princess Phooey is a wonderful new musical for princes and princesses of all ages. “With such a delightfully goofy title, what's not to like? This smart and adorable show, with book and lyrics by Lisa Diana Shapiro and music by Eric Rockwell about a stubborn princess who cares nothing for the trappings of her station, has charm and Broadway pizzazz in abundance.”
