The Trials of
ALICE IN WONDERLAND
Music by Eric Rockwell
Lyrics by Joanne Bogart Book by William J. Brooke Song:
| Alice is on trial for something she can’t really help; she’s on trial for growing and changing. Apparently the inhabitants of Wonderland didn't take too kindly to her 'growing too big and too little.'
Set in a courtroom where the Queen of Hearts is the judge, the Mad Hatter, White Rabbit and Caterpillar are witnesses, and the jury is a deck of cards, poor Alice must re-live the events of her adventures and try to prove her innocence. Helping her (as well as hindering her) are Tweedledee and Tweedledum, who spend most of the performance trying to decide who is defense and who is prosecution. To win the case and to save her life, Alice must embrace the truth about who she is, and be willing to wake up from the dream of Wonderland. |
"William J. Brooke's book is full of comic wordplay and Joanne Bogart's lyrics follow suit, with a memorable score by Eric Rockwell. This hour long show is likely to send children home singing ‘Off With Her Head.’ But don't worry: no one here is condemned to anything but a good time."
